Yasmine Askari (USA)

Yasmine Askari is a Pakistani-American filmmaker whose childhood, spent across five states of the United States, fostered a fascination with fleeting relationships, the passage of time, and personal transformation. Her work explores these themes through a diasporic lens. After graduating from the School of Journalism at Columbia University in New York City, she shifted from documentary filmmaking to narrative storytelling. Her short films have been finalists for grants from Stowe Story Labs and other industry programs. Before moving into narrative filmmaking, Yasmine reported for local newsrooms across the United States, including the Texas Observer, MinnPost, and the Baltimore Sun.

Three Days till Paradise On the cusp of becoming American expats, a young Pakistani-American couple —a journalist and her jaded tech-worker husband— drive cross-country, chasing one last high before a new life abroad. Still in love but headed in opposite directions, they navigate freedom, guilt, and the fading ideals from their youth.
