2026 Taller de Líneas Argumentales

María José Bermúdez holds a degree in Social Communication from the Universidad de La Sabana. She later completed an M.A. in Filmmaking at The Northern Film School in Leeds, United Kingdom. Her career focuses on working with Indigenous communities, environmental protection, human rights, and cultural development. She is currently working on projects for Colombian public television and non-governmental organizations, as well as short films for cinema, among others. María José directed, edited, and produced Amoka, a documentary about the impacts of artisanal mining in the Middle Caquetá region, which won the Spotlight Documentary Gold Award and the Docs Without Borders Outstanding Excellence Award. She has also taught at the Universidad del Rosario, the Universidad de los Andes, the Universidad de La Sabana, and the Corporación Unificada Nacional de Educación Superior (CUN) in Colombia. More recently, she directed the fiction series La Wedding Planner (2023), with a grant from the Colombian Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (MinTIC) for women creators, and La despedida (2024).
