Matthys Boshoff (South Africa)

Matthys Boshoff is a South African film director and screenwriter. His short film Vlees van my vlees (2016/17) had its European premiere at the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival, won awards at festivals around the globe and was nominated for Best Short Film at the South African Film and Television Awards in 2018. Matthys co-wrote his directorial feature debut, The Story of Rachel de Beer, a period adventure drama that is set for festival release in July 2019. Projects in development include The Last Place on Earth, an historical series set in Johannesburg, and the feature film Flesh of My Flesh, that was selected as one of five projects to partake in Realness, a Pan-African screenwriter’s residency, in 2018. When he is not working in long form, Matthys directs commercials for which he has received awards at OneShow, Cannes and LIA, as well as the Loeries Film Grand Prix in 2018.
