2025 Script Revision Lab

Melody Minji Kang is a cinematic storyteller from South Korea, known for her bold vision and emotionally resonant narratives. She seeks to understand the meaning of existence and the intricate emotional landscapes of family. Through cinema, she dares to approach the elusive essence of life’s mystery. Melody attended Tabor Academy, earned her B.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) and holds an M.F.A. in Film Directing from Columbia University in New York City. Her thesis film, The Loyalist, made waves on the international festival circuit, garnering multiple accolades. The script to The Loyalist is featured in Short Film Screenwriting: A Craft Guide and Anthology by Austin Bunn (Bloomsbury Publishing). Since 2005, Melody has created numerous films, both narrative and experimental, of various lengths and formats: 16mm, 35mm, high-definition, and virtual reality. Her film projects have been selected for and presented at Fantastic 7 at the Marché du Film—Festival de Cannes, Berlinale Talents Tokyo, Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN), Busan Asian Film School (AFiS), and Cine Qua Non Lab. She is presently rewriting Howl Like Huskies, a semi-biographical film supported by the Korean Film Council, the Seoul Film Commission, and the Wildflower Film Awards Korea. She is represented by Jewerl Ross at Silent R Management and splits her time between Seoul and New York.
Howl Like Huskies — Sent away by her grieving mother, a 10-year-old unwanted daughter forms an unlikely bond with a silent loner her age. Together, they help each other find their voices and heal hidden wounds.
